Innovate UK - Building Performance Evaluation (BPE)

Innovate UK committed up to £8m to fund the costs of building performance evaluation studies on over 150 domestic and non-domestic buildings. The studies focused on energy, building function and user performance,

Funding covered the total cost of evaluating the performance and was intended to help builders and developers to deliver more efficient, better performing buildings. All studies were required to use specified protocols, tools and techniques to capture data in a comparable form.

Studies covered either the period immediately post construction and into early occupation or a period of two years in-use for buildings less than two years old.

The aim was to assemble a substantial body of data for many building types to draw generic conclusions on the performance obtained through various design strategies, building fabric, target performances, construction methods and occupancy patterns, handover and operational practices.

Easlár were appointed as Building Performance Evaluators on this project, providing technical support to a range of project teams in both the domestic and non-domestic sectors.

To view the findings from the BPE project please see https://connect.innovateuk.org/web/building-performance-evaluation/overview for more information.
